[ Spock had been one of those who had been discomfited by the idea of spending time without replicators. Developing useful skills in the kitchen had never been among Spock's list of accomplishments, and while he had not been unduly concerned about experiencing an adequate lack of nutrition, he had not been keen on the idea of relying on dehydrated meals or calling for service.

And yet, it appears neither will be necessary. Spock eyes the food, glides over to the table and carefully pokes at one of the plates. ]


You are familiar with cooking practices?

[ The second half of that question - and recognize enough of the produce and grains to manufacture food that would pass muster for even humans? - remains unsaid, but it is implied in his tone.

There are no utensils or dishes laid out on the table, though Spock spots a small stack of plates, with cloth napkins and flatware on one of the counters, and makes to move in that direction. He will ask, though; humans, he finds, complain when small tasks are handled without their permission. ]
