[ text post ] Write me a letter / Write it today

texts. texts from last night. sexting. angry angsty texts.
just leave me short, simple things to respond to during commute hours.

Traveling off-world with family is not the same experience as an away mission. I shall send you the mission briefing. Familiarize yourself with it before we embark.

Of course, Commander. I'll be sure to memorise it.

Thank you.

Out of the two of us, I'm not the mind-reader, Spock. I can't know what's bothering you if you won't tell me.
kosu: (( 019 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
I have already informed you that there is nothing bothering me. I am functioning acceptably.
hypostrophe: (up | sarcastic)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Darlin'. I can tell something is bothering you. You know how I can tell? You made one of your underlings cry this morning. That's my job.
kosu: (( 014 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
I offered a critique on their work.
If they are unprepared for the truth, they should not solicit comments. The science department does not coddle individuals.

I will reiterate. I am acceptable.
hypostrophe: (down | sympathetic)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
You told him he obviously found his science degree at the bottom of a box of cereal. And I'm pretty sure you stole that insult from me, by the way.

Acceptable is not optimal.
kosu: (( 021 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
He failed to account for varying levels of radiation on an experiment regarding plants. And then failed to test the composition of the soil accurately.

Starfleet continues to send me scientists that are barely out of primary school. What am I meant to do with individuals who fail to properly track their experiments?
hypostrophe: (up | wait hold on)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well obviously he made a mistake, but do you honestly think that Starfleet would send you incompetent children on purpose? And for the record, most humans respond better to positive rather than negative reinforcement.

Tell me what's wrong.
kosu: (( 016 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I believe they would do such a thing, as they have clearly done it, Doctor.

Wrong is a vague word to use. Is a biological complication 'wrong'? There is no need to concern yourself.
hypostrophe: (down | good god man)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you should file an official complaint with Admiral Pike. See how well that goes down.

There's something wrong with your biology?? Spock, if you were trying to reassure me, you failed miserably. What's wrong.
kosu: (( 016 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
The last time I made an unofficial comment to Admiral Pike, he told me that if they are new, it is my duty to train them and shape them into competent scientists. Jim found it hilarious.

It is a matter of which we do not speak.
hypostrophe: (up | wait hold on)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Well Jim is an idiot, but Pike isn't wrong. You always turn out competent scientists, darlin', just give him time.

Too bad. Tell me what's wrong or I'm going to track you down on the bridge and have this out with you in front of Alpha shift.
kosu: (( 017 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Jim has to do the same with new officers, which the admiral pointed out after he laughed. Being new is no excuse for a lack of attention to detail.

It is a private Vulcan matter, related to mating. It will pass, and there is no reason to discuss this in front of others.
hypostrophe: (down | sympathetic)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, which is why this ship is full of reckless idiots who fly by the seat of their pants and yet somehow manage to wrest victory from the jaws of defeat nearly every day. They all learn soon enough.

Mating? As in procreation? I thought you said you weren't ready for children yet.
kosu: (( 025 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
I must protest your words; there are a number of individuals who are not reckless and certainly not idiots.

I am not. It is more about bonding than procreation, though among Vulcans, it signifies that both parties are capable of producing children.
hypostrophe: (with | spaaaaawk)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Try telling me that when half the away team comes back covered in blood and needing immediate medical attention.

Well what's the problem?
kosu: (( 018 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
It is not always their blood.
The missions we end up on are often dangerous but we have the fewest causalities of any ship in the 'Fleet.

It is a biological compulsion. Again, Doctor, this is not something of which we speak.
hypostrophe: (up | we're all gonna die)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
I know. You're welcome.

Is there anything we can do? I'm not going to knock you up before you're ready to have children just because your body wants you to. I tried that whole thing already and it blew up in my face. There's got to be some way to get around this.

Unless...it needs to be another Vulcan?
kosu: (( 017 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Your expertise is quite appreciated, Leonard.

It does not, as my father was faithful to my mother. It is unnecessary to reproduce. It is the pon farr - an affliction that strikes every seven years, causing the blood to burn. Mated Vulcans seek out their mates. Unmated Vulcans are driven to find their mate.

It is a shameful time that brings about the loss of control and logic, which is why we do discuss the matter.
hypostrophe: (up | sarcastic)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
So you're saying it makes you human.
kosu: (( 016 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
The average human is not driven to copulation nor does their blood burn. Pon farr can be deadly if it is not assuaged.
hypostrophe: (up | pissed)

[personal profile] hypostrophe 2017-07-09 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
DEADLY??
kosu: (( 015 ))

[personal profile] kosu 2017-07-09 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
That is not the concern here,
Leonard. It will strip my logic my me, as well as my emotional control.
